Poster & Title Designs

The design for the poster was created under wire for a film festival that needed to quickly convey the juxtaposition of the magical elements vs the pressures that Hakem was facing growing up black in south central Los Angeles.

When creating the title design I wanted to lean into the African diaspora design language and mixing a modern aesthetic as well by using a san serif. The name of the film lended itself to the coloring

Examples of how the design of the title design influenced the rest of the design for the end credits and some examples of design that didn’t work.

Prop Designs

Created and design the hero prop of the wand as a unique challenge, I did a lot of research and worked with director on what he was looking for. He wasn’t exactly sure so I pitched a few different ideas the one that stuck was a mixing of gold banding with a craved wood and ivory.
